ROSEE/ROOSJE
Rosée/Roosje Yoko Tsuno adopted a little girl named Rosée du Matin / Ochtendroosje (Dew of the Morning). This has never occurred in adventure comic strip before. Rosée's parents died in a typhoon so Rosée's grandfather took care of her. But the old man felt he wouldn't live for much longer, so he asked Yoko to adopt this little girl capable of taming a dragon. Since then, Yoko takes Rosée with her in all her adventures. "I'm raising a Chinese girl for the year 2000, not a folklore doll." she says.
IDEA?
Rose, Ben and Yoko "Rosée was commissioned by a Chinese publisher, remembers Roger Leloup. His audience was mostly comprised of children and he wanted a younger character. So I opened the book of memories I keep in my head, and I found all the pictures of Annick, the young Korean girl I adopted, when she arrived at our home. I am quite fond of her. She brings tenderness to the adventure. Everything amases her. I live Yoko's childhood through her." Children are instantely fond of Yoko Tsuno. Those she encounters wake up a maternal instinct apparently incompatible with the lifestyle of a heroine. They are frequently on her side though, bringing the freshness of their innocence to the virtues cultivated by Yoko. "With those characters I can tell things that are happens between children. Though they sometimes encumber me." Rosée has been part of the serie since book no. 16, The Hong Kong Dragon.
