MOTHER
AND FATHER TSUNO |
|
In
album no. 9 you finally have the chance to meet Yoko's parents. Seiko
Tsuno is a geophysicist and Yoko's mother, Masako Ishida, takes care of the
household. They live on a wonderful island that only exists in your mind
(or in the writer's mind).
Yoko has gone back to her birthplace on one occasion. In album no. 11 Yoko goes
back into the past with the time spiral - more exactly, to the year 1943.
In that episode, something strange happens: Yoko talks there to her mother on
the telephone, who is at that moment just 13 years old. |
|
AOKI |
|
Aoki
was Yoko's teacher. Her father was too occupied with his work, and her mother
had too much work with her household, so Aoki took care of Yoko. Aoki was
a kamikaze, but he never completed what he had to do for his country. In that way
he was living in dishonour. But in album no.9 Aoki sees the chance to do
something for his country and to regain his self-respect and place in society. But
Yoko becomes really unhappy about it, because she sees Aoki die in self-sacrifice
to save the planet. |

UNCLE
TOSHIO |
|
In
album no. 11 Yoko meets her uncle Toshida Ishida, who has already
died in the present day, in 1943 Borneo. She meets him in the past during the
episode when she talked to her mother. Toshida was an officer, but he died just
after the second world war. Yoko is able to give him the news that his wife Yukiyo, who
is apparently incurably sick, will get better. Yoko wants to save her uncle as well
but doesn't get the chance. |

NEPHEW
IZUMI |
|
Yoko's
nephew, the son of Toshido Ishida, lives with his wife in Borneo. They decide
to adopt Monya, the girl from the future. From this moment on Yoko has a
niece. |
